SERGII now automatically calculates the fugitive emissions generated from refrigeration plant and equipment. Using a virtual meter and using reference to annually published emissions factors for each fugitive emission type, fugitive emissions can be calculated alongside utilising recoded refrigerant top-ups can be added alongside recording new equipment and replacement.
Fugitive emissions are leaks of greenhouse gases, for example from refrigeration and air-conditioning units. Refrigerant gases are generally extremely potent greenhouse gases, some of which are thousands of times more damaging than carbon dioxide (CO2).
